Non-Psychoactive CBD Products

When most people talk about the “drug” marijuana, what they are really talking about is a plethora of different chemical compounds whose effects compound on one another, all of which are found in the cannabis plant. It is a vast oversimplification to refer to marijuana as a drug, and furthermore, it limits any further study into what produces the effects users enjoy by consuming or smoking the plant. The main psychoactive compound in marijuana plants is tetrahydrocannabinol, more commonly known as THC. While it is only one out of more than one hundred of the cannabinoids found within marijuana, it is the one that is most commonly synthesized and used independently of the plant itself. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is the second most important of the cannabinoids found in marijuana, and the extent of its interaction with THC has still not been fully understood. Cannabidiol, unlike THC, is not believed to be a psychoactive compound. However, the full effects that CBD has on the human body have yet to be fully uncovered, and a large amount of research is being done in order to determine the effects that it does have. From what research has already been done, scientists have hypothesized that CBD will be invaluable as a treatment for a variety of medical issues and may offer other unrelated health benefits.
